Cassandras' DC Trip.

First I would like to thank both my Grandparents and my parents for giving me the ability to travel to our nations capitol. This was all indescribable, so I would suggest you visit if you haven't been. I wish I had more time to see all the wonderful monuments and museums that are available to be toured. I had a blast with all of my friends and made some new ones. (even got digits!) So check out my pics and thanks again! P.S. Don't pay any attention to the dates on the pics. I didn't know how to change it. HaHa. The White House Lincoln Memorial Washington Monument The Hyatt Hotel where I stayed. The Capitol Building. My friend Torria and I.

Fall Burn

Well,
Cassie is in Washington DC so we decided to burn some leaves out back. We loaded up the radio, the fire drum, some gasoline and a lighter. What more do you need?

Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial

We went to Oklahoma City to visit the bombing memorial today.  Very profound. Even the kids were extremely respectful.  Adjacent to the memorial is the memorial musuem which told the story minute by minute of that day, April 19th 1995 starting at 7:00am.

On either side of the reflecting pool are two large gates ( The gates of time ). Each symbolize a moment in time. The East gate reads 9:01 in large numbers, which stands for 9:01am and innocence before the attack.  The Western gate has 9:03 inscribed which stands for 9:03am and the moment we were changed forever.

The reflecting pool stands for that moment in time of the explosion, as you look into the pool and the reflection constantly changes as wripples in time.

Just South of the reflecting pool is the "Field of empty chairs". This part of the memorial is strategically placed were the Alfred P. Murrah FBI building once stood.  168 chairs exist, one for each person who died that day.  As you gaze across the rows there seems to be no certain allignment of the chairs, but in fact they are allligned in sequence of the floor on which that person lost their life. The first floor had the greatest number of lives lost with the second floor containing a daycare in which 19 out of the 21 children on site that day were tragically mudered.  The last life was taken on the 9th floor.

Directly North is the survivor tree. A 90+ year old American elm surounded by a wall with these words inscribed,
"The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated; our deeply rooted faith sustains us".
On the East and West side of the Survivor Tree are two small groups of trees known as the Rescuers Orchards.   Like the people who rushed into help, these trees surround and protect the Survivor Tree.  Close by states, " To the courageous and caring who responded from near and far, we offer our eternal gratitude".

During the Museum tour there were some very somber moments. One point sticks out most with your humble narrator. Near the end of the tour exists The Gallery of Honor. Small glass boxes stacked on the walls with 8x10 pictures of the people who died that day. Each box containing a momento either found that day or was put in by a loved one.  As I turned the corner to enter the Gallery, I heard Amazing Grace being played by a single Violin, then noticed two of these boxes each with a picture of a small child and one with a Teddy Bear, I quickly turned tail before emotions took control.
I would strongly suggest to anyone who lives in this Country, visit this memorial. It's a wonderful tribute. Not just to the people who died, but to the Heros that answered the call of the others who lay along side of those unfortunate souls lost.

New Blog

Well,
Tara and I have started a blog. What ever a blog is.
I guess we'll see what happens!
To start our new blog, we've decided to try to add David's football video we've just completed.
Hopefully this works.
Dave is number 91. Generally he will be the one player starred in each part of the video whether it be offense, defense or punt returning.
Check it out.
