Still Undefeated! Dave went back to Linebacker on defense.

In 5 games, only 2 touchdowns have been scored against us!

Raiders are Rolling
Daves football team the "Raiders" won their 4th straight game today (Undefeated).
Sunday, 10-3-10.
54 to Zero. We felt bad for the kids on the other team, however those kids were talking trash before the game and our coach believes in showing not talking.
This year Dave plays Cornerback on defense and 4 back on Offense.

Practice before the game.

Cassie Visits Home
We went shopping in Witchita Kansas while Cassie was home. We found this cold weather hat for her to wear when she gets out.
Casssie and her best friend Dre at Daves football practice. Dre stayed with us part of the time during Cassies' visit home.

Fortunately Cassie had no problem going back to Thunderbird and was anxious to get back into the daily regimen... only wishing there wasn't quite as much yelling. Apparently drill Seargents are loud and Scary according to Cass.

Cassie at Thunderbird
Cassie's mentor Debbie went down to see Cass at TYA Friday morning (27th). These are the pics she sent us this morning. Cassie seems to be doing very well judging by her letters. She recently made Platoon leader. She has four sqaud leaders beneath her and each of those girls have seven or eight girls beneath them. We pick Cassie up next Friday for a long 5 day weekend. We have a party planned for Saturday night and requests of Carnitas and salsa have been made. So Fiesta it is! Next BLOG will be of the party!

I mean he wont let us go to OKC without eating lunch there! Weird huh...

Valenzuelas in Ponca
What a great time we had with our best friends Mark, Vickie, Haley and Ryan aka "The Monkey". We were very fortunate that due to the cancelation of our Las Vegas trip, Mark and Family decided to head on out to Ponca and take a vacation with us. We picked them in Denver headed back to Ponca and five days later dropped them back off in Denver. We visited the OKC Bombing Memorial, an Indian and a fossil/old guy/ rattlesnake picture/ stuffed animal museum and we even saw the worlds largest Prairie Dog (all 10,000lbs of it) somewhere not too far from the worlds biggest hand dug well! Gotta love Kansas.
Here were are enjoying the pool! Our friend Debbie Myer decided to join in!

Here's a self portrait on the way back to the airport in Denver. If I'm not mistaken this should by in Kansas...on I-70 at about 75 miles per hour.

Cassies New New Buddy
Hey everyone it's Cassie here. I was out running this morning (at 0500) and I came across a baby opossum, so I named him Phillip (pronounced fileep) awww :). Hes so adorable huh? So I put him in Corky's old puppy cage and gave him a piece of roast beef, which he didn't eat. :(
When dad came down stairs this morning, I told him I found a new new BUDDY!! So we went out side and took pics with him! To show his love for me, Phillip poo'd on me. awwww :) lol
So here he is!!

We went outside tonight and noticed the most fireflies we've seen yet. Sorry, the video gets a bit blurry at times but you can see them flying all around!

Wildlife at Work
I found this small turtle in the brush while making my rounds at the river wells. I put him in the truck with me and let him enjoy some country music for a while. He must not have liked it because he kept trying to walk off the center console.....possibly to his death...for all he knew! Who could blame him? Generally all the turtles sit on logs or the banks of ponds and rivers to ensure a speedy getaway. It's a good defense against people like me who turtle nap them and force them listen to Toby Keith & Garth Brooks!
Now this snake was a bit larger. I walked up on this this five foot Northen Water snake hanging out in a tree watching my co-worker Jeremy take samples of a spring. Apparently this snake is aware of the arsenic levels and decided to follow Darwins law and evolve into a Northern TREE snake! If you look in the upper left hand corner of the picture, you'll see him hanging out in the tree checking us out. I took the two pics below before I grabbed him. Unfortunately I couldn't pull him out of the branches and he gave me the slip.
I found this snake near one of the springs near the refinery. Little does he know, the amount of arsenic found in that spring will more then likely send him to that big snake wrangler in the sky!
God Speed Little One......

Gardening and a walk.
Today was a very productive day for the Rowe family. While Mama bear went to work, Papa bear and the two cubs did some light gardening and some not so light exploring. Cassie, Dave and Myself dug up a little piece of lawn (2 more acres where that came from) so we could all enjoy some assorted tomatos this season. Once we removed the grass down to 4 inches deep, we added some miracle grow soil, mixed it all up and viola.....a garden. Lucky for us, Tara had time after work to actually put the plants in the ground because we had gotten bored and went for a walk. When we got back, we topped it with mulch and surrounded it with a little fence to keep the pugs out!

This is Cassie looking for arrowheads...to no avail. Dave is somewhere out there.
This is actually one of our neighbors ponds he made. We picked up a some friends to join us on our journey. That's Kobe jumping in for a swim with Dave in the background doing some side exploration of his own.
The pond was made by daming up a very small creek caused by a spring. He then put sod down on the top of the dam so it made for some real nice dog paddling. The water is about 10 feet deep and from what I understand catfish were added.
Found some new friends
These are a couple of new friends we've met recently, including a 10 pound snapping turtle and a calf, a friend of Dave owns.

Kids new found friends.
A week ago Cassie and Dave decided to bring some of the local river inhabitants home and throw them in the pool. Well two toads and 3 frogs later..... mating season! I'm not sure if you've ever been so unfortunate to hear toads call out to their potential mates all day and all nite, but it sounds like a 6th grader with huge lungs giving the ole collage try on a trombone. Today we had the liner in the pool replaced and we noticed eggs developing on the toads. Well, Cassie decided it was too cruel to the frogs and toads to lose the broods to the pool filter. So, she and Dave packed up the pre-pubescent brass quartet and hauled them back down to the river.
Two hours later the Toads and frogs were happily back in their homes far away from our pool and more importantly our back windows. However, Cassie in her infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to bring this home......

Lucky for us, our Redneck neighbors eat Carp!

New Fawn
A good friend of ours (Debbie Myers) has some horses and one had a baby boy Monday the 19th. We took the kids down to meet the new member of the family Monday afternoon. Needless to say, Cassie didn't appreciate the fact the afterbirth was still laying on the ground.....
